Become a creator of new technologies and gain a deep understanding of the theory, design and application of computer science by exploring a wide range of areas including software development, algorithms, networking and graphics.

You’ll not only become a strong programmer, but will master the skills needed to shape how we'll use computers and interact with each other in the future.

Careers and future study:

Choosing computer science at Dalhousie opens you up to a world of opportunity. Computer science permeates nearly all human endeavours from business and science to entertainment and medicine. Upon graduation, you could find yourself in one of the following careers:

  • app or game developer
  • web developer
  • digital health professional
  • user-interface designer

Future studies could include programs at the graduate level in computer science, electronic commerce, or health informatics.

You’ll need to meet the general admission requirements as well as the program specific admission requirements before you can apply.

Minimum admission requirements:

  1. Completion of secondary school (Grade 12)
  2. A minimum overall average of 70% in five academic Grade 12 courses
  3. A final grade of at least 70% in Grade 12 academic English and any other required subject (see list below)

Please note: Admission to many programs at Dalhousie is competitive; meeting the minimum average doesn’t guarantee admission. Typically, 70% or higher is necessary in all required subjects for early admission.

If you don’t currently meet these requirements, you may be eligible for one of our upgrading or pathway programs.

International High School Applicant Requirment Based on Curriculum:

  1. Advanced Placement (AP)
  2. Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE)
  3. French Baccalauréat
  4. GCE A Level (British System)
  5. Home-schooled applicants
