Program Overview for BA in Creative Writing in Canada:
You'll be taught by published writers in workshops that encourage and expand your imaginative and original writing. Learn about the writer's craft by reading and critiquing your peers’ work — while getting feedback on your own writing.
Careers and future study:
You'll learn skills that will prepare you for any job requiring creative thinking and problem solving. You’ll be able to think on your feet and with your pen, creating tag lines for marketing campaigns or composing clear and compelling text for websites. The bottom line: you'll be prepared for any type of work that requires the ability to communicate clearly in writing. Here are just a few of the careers paths you might follow:

- editor
Future studies could include programs at the graduate level in arts, social sciences or your core area of study.

You’ll need to meet the general admission requirements as well as the program specific admission requirements before you can apply.
Minimum admission requirements:
- Completion of secondary school (Grade 12)
- A minimum overall average of 70% in five academic Grade 12 courses
- A final grade of at least 70% in Grade 12 academic English and any other required subject (see list below)
Please note: Admission to many programs at Dalhousie is competitive; meeting the minimum average doesn’t guarantee admission. Typically, 70% or higher is necessary in all required subjects for early admission.
If you don’t currently meet these requirements, you may be eligible for one of our upgrading or pathway programs.
