Program Overview for PhD in Clinical Psychology in Canada:
Our Clinical Psychology program is based on the 'scientist-practitioner' model and is designed to give our graduates a thorough grounding in science, research and clinical practice. Students are focused on research from the beginning of the program and work toward a PhD dissertation. Students also start applied training in their first year and continue throughout the program, ending with a full-year internship.
Due to our emphasis on the science of psychology, our program produces clinical psychologists who blend the ideals of research and service.
The eligibility for PhD in Clinical Psychology in Canada for both domestic and international student is:
Incoming students must have a 4-year honours bachelor degree from a Canadian University or its equivalent elsewhere. The honours degree should be in the area of intended study with at least a B+ (3.3) average.
- Four-year Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B average) in the last 60 credit hours of study
- Degree granted by university of recognized standing.
If you are planning to apply for a thesis or research based Master’s or PhD, you might need to find a supervisor before you begin the application process. To find out if securing a supervisor before applying is required or recommended, please check with the graduate program you applying to.
