Detailed Information of Master of Periodontics in Canada at Dalhousie University

Program Overview for Master of Periodontics in Canada:

This three-year Master of Periodontics degree is designed to train competent periodontists to practise the full scope of periodontics and surgical implant dentistry using an evidence-based approach to treatment.

The program provides students with a variety of clinical experiences, emphasizing thorough patient evaluation and accuracy in diagnosis and treatment planning. Students will be trained to manage patients who are in need of treatment for a variety of periodontal diseases and mucogingival defects, temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD), dental implant therapy, and conscious sedation. Students will also participate in a research project.

Graduates of this program are eligible to write fellowship exams for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in Periodontics and the American Board of Periodontology Diplomate Exams.

The eligibility for Master of Periodontics in Canada for both domestic and international student is:

Completion of a minimum of a four-year DDS (or equivalent) from a university-based dental institution with a minimum overall average equivalent of A- (85%).

For international students:

  • A certified (by a lawyer or notary public) copy of your diploma must be provided plus an original letter from the dean of the university certifying your graduation and the date of graduation.
