Program Overview for MSc in Clinical Vision Science in Canada:

The Clinical Vision Science Program is an innovative graduate program developed through a unique partnership of the IWK Health Centre and Dalhousie University. It is directed at optimizing professional clinical practice in orthoptics and ophthalmic medical technology. The program encourages an integrated approach to the field of vision sciences.

We provide students with a strong foundation in clinical vision sciences (including neuroscience and neuropharmacology). Students learn to analyze and relate research findings to clinical experience, skills vital for superior diagnostic and therapeutic services. Our graduates will therefore be well prepared for both clinical and research-based practices.

The eligibility for MSc in Clinical Vision Science in Canada for both domestic and international student is:

Admission requirements for the MSc in Clinical Vision Science include a bachelor’s degree with honors or a bachelor’s degree with 4 years of undergraduate study from a recognized institution of higher education with a minimum of a B average (GPA 3.0).

In addition, applicants should have at least one undergraduate class from the following list:

  • human anatomy
  • neuroscience, e.g. neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, etc.
  • psychology
  • physiology
  • biology
  • biochemistry
  • psychophysics

It is also recommended that students have completed a course in research methods (e.g. statistics or research design).

Admission is based on an assessment of previous academic achievement, letters of reference, professional goals and interests, an interview with the admission committee, and an English language competency test for international students. Related clinical and/or laboratory practice will also be taken into consideration.
