Program Overview for MSc in Agriculture in Canada:

The MSc program with a specialization in Agriculture is designed to provide a foundation for studies at the doctoral level and for professional careers in research and development, teaching, industry, and extension.

As the program is research-centered, all students must complete a research thesis embodying original contribution in the thesis field of study. The thesis is defended at an oral examination.

In addition, students must be admitted to candidacy within the first four to six months of their program, must do a teaching assistantship in at least one undergraduate class in order to gain knowledge and experience in classroom instruction, and must present at one Graduate Research Day.

The eligibility for MSc in Agriculture in Canada for both domestic and international student is:

Four-year Bachelor’s degree and a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B average) in the last 60 credit hours of study. Your degree must be granted by a university of recognized standing.

Please note that programs with a thesis requirement normally require an undergraduate honors degree. There are some occasions where this requirement may be waived where evidence of independent research capacity is present.

A complete graduate studies application to the Faculty of Agriculture must include the following additional documentation for review (incomplete packages will not be reviewed):

  2. An up-to-date Curriculum Vitae (CV) [Required]
  3. A Letter of Research Interest [Required]
  4. Abstract of "Honours" or Senior Undergraduate Research Project Paper [Required]

Please note that Confirmed Supervision by a member of the Faculty of Agriculture is REQUIRED to be admitted to our graduate programs.
