Program Overview for Master of Arts in Celtic Studies in Canada:

StFX is pleased to offer the only Celtic research terminal master's degree in North America, a 36-credit study plan based on coursework and thesis. The program prides itself on its attention to individual students. Only 13 students are admitted each year;

All master’s students must be based on Old Irish (also known as Old Gaelic) as the basis of modern Gaelic (Irish, Manks, and Scottish Gaelic) and medieval Celtic studies. Core.

The plan is based on the rich Gaelic traditions of Nova Scotia and maintains close ties with the local Gaelic community. The department also enjoys a good reputation for teaching and research internationally and has close ties with Harvard University and the University of Toronto in North America; the University of Glasgow and the University of Edinburgh in Scotland; Trinity College Dublin and the University of Limerick in Ireland; and the Netherlands University of Utrecht.
