The Doctorate in I / O Psychology emphasizes the scientific investigation of work through research, courses, and applied experience. Our Ph.D. students accumulate professional knowledge through independent research projects, work, and active participation in the field through departmental conferences and activities.
Students, faculty, and staff work closely together to conduct novel research in a supportive research environment. Faculty and staff guide students in occupational health psychology, leadership, job pressure, organizational justice, human factors, organizational climate, conflict and negotiation, gender and employee recruitment, selection, and performance.
Professional curriculum work with a small group of students can develop content knowledge and typically includes promoting research activities and applications. Interested doctoral students generally have the opportunity to develop teaching skills in St. Mary's University undergraduate courses.
