Program Overview for MA in Theology and Religious Studies in Canada:

Students have a unique opportunity to compare these two related but different disciplines on topics such as religious diversity, Canadian multiculturalism, globalization, and public theology. Provide courses in biblical studies, world religions, and systematic theology. Community participation and fieldwork are also encouraged. This is a joint project between St. Mary's College and Atlantic Theological Seminary.

The eligibility for MA in Theology and Religious Studies in Canada for both domestic and international student is:

Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies or Theology, or a first degree in Theology (Masters in Divinity, for example), or their equivalent. To be considered, an applicant shall hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.3 scale), over the last 60 credit hours or equivalent, from an institution recognized by the Senate and shall have a knowledge of the proposed field of specialization satisfactory to the graduate program concerned.

  2. Letter of Intent: Please expand on your areas of interest in a letter of intent that briefly states your specific interests. Include your goals and specifically how you see this program meeting them (1-2 pages).
  3. Sample of academic writing (10-25 pages in length).
  4. Transcripts: We will accept uploaded unofficial transcripts for evaluation purposes. Applicants must upload a grading scale with their unofficial transcripts. Successful applicants will be required to submit official final transcripts. 
  5. Three (3) recommendation forms.
  6. A current CV/Resume.
