Program Overview for MA in Atlantic Canada Studies in Canada:

The Canadian Interdisciplinary Atlantic Studies Graduate Program was established in 1983. Students in this project can study Atlantic Canada from a variety of perspectives. The master's program encourages students to develop interdisciplinary methods to study culture, economics, social policy, and the environment.

The eligibility for MA in Atlantic Canada Studies in Canada for both domestic and international student is:

To be considered, an applicant shall hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.3 scale), over the last 60 credit hours or equivalent, from an institution recognized by the Senate and shall know the proposed field of specialization satisfactory to the graduate program concerned. Individual programs may have a higher requirement. Preference will be given to applicants who hold an honors degree.

In addition, admission will be granted only to those students who show a high promise of success in postgraduate study, as demonstrated by the results of appropriate tests and their records of previous academic accomplishments. See the regulations listed under each graduate program for specific additional minimum requirements for admission to that program.

  2. Research Proposal: A statement of 300 to 500 words specifying your proposed thesis research interests.
  3. Sample(s) of academic or other written work (10-25 pages in length).
  4. Short description of the courses taken in Atlantic Canada Studies or related courses.
  5. Transcripts: We will accept uploaded unofficial transcripts for evaluation purposes. Applicants must upload a grading scale with their unofficial transcripts. Successful applicants will be required to submit official final transcripts. 
  6. Three (3) recommendation forms.
  7. A current CV/Resume.
