Detailed Information of MA in Public Issues Anthropology in Canada at University of Guelph

These are the international student eligibility for the MA in Public Issues Anthropology in Canada

Only students with a 4-year undergraduate honours degree will be admitted into the program. Students must have a minimum B+ average in the final two years of their program. The expectation is that the undergraduate degree will be in Anthropology, but students with at least five courses in Anthropology may be admitted as long as these were part of a major in another social science or humanities program. However, to promote innovative and cross-disciplinary work we also encourage students with degrees in the other programs including the natural sciences to apply if their background lines up with the interests of existing faculty. We recommend these students have five Anthropology courses that include courses in both biological and social/cultural anthropology. Students without Anthropology degrees are strongly encouraged and invited to consult with a PIA graduate faculty member prior to applying.

Combining the PIA MA with an MA in International Development Studies:
Students can choose to combine their PIA MA with an MA in International Development Studies. Students complete requirements for the PIA (departmental) degree, and take development-related courses from other core disciplines. Moreover, you need to submit:
  • Transcripts
  • Recommendation Letter
  • Letter of Intent (Statement of Purpose)
  • CV/Resume

N.B: Most universities have specific international admission requirements based on different education systems.
