Society of Manufacturing Engineers Scholarship Scholarships in USA: SME Education Foundation scholarships provide financial support to students pursuing a degree in an engineering discipline closely related to manufacturing or a technology field of study related to manufacturing.

As an internationally recognized SME charity, a non-profit organization serving the manufacturing industry, the SME Education Foundation encourages, trains and supports the next generation of manufacturing and engineering talent. The 

Foundation leverages the 90-year history and thought leadership of SMEs in the engineering and manufacturing industries to bring planning expertise to thousands of high school students at SME conferences and trade shows, and establish practical manufacturing plans in the high schools across the country. The Foundation also provides millions of dollars in scholarships to high school graduates, college students, and graduate students each year. 

Through its SME PRIME program, the foundation has served more than 100,000 students in more than 60 schools in 22 states. All Foundation activities are designed to enable young people to pursue careers in manufacturing and engineering.

The SME Education Foundation provides millions of dollars in scholarships every year to high school graduates, college students, and graduates studying manufacturing or engineering for two, four or four years or advanced degrees.

Application Criteria for Society of Manufacturing Engineers Scholarship Scholarships in USA


Graduate Students:

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must be on a path toward a graduate degree in manufacturing engineering, technology, or closely related field at an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada.

Undergraduate Students:

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must be on a path toward a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, technology, or closely related field at an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada.

Graduating HS Seniors: 

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must be on a path toward an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, technology, or closely related field at an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada.

Technical/Community School:

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must be on a path toward an associate degree in manufacturing engineering technology, or a closely related field at an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada.
