The Surety Foundation is a charity established to promote diversity in the assurance and loyalty industry. Recognizing the value of diverse ideas and backgrounds, the member companies of the Surety & Fidelity Association of America established this 501(c)(3) organization to fund and administer the reality program. internships and scholarships for underrepresented students, as well as the development and implementation of new public service and education program initiatives.

It is a charity that aims to increase the diversity of the warranty industry and loyalty through its interns and scholarship programs. The purpose of the Surety and Surety Industry Scholarship and Internship Program (SFIISP) is to provide financial assistance to the educational needs of eligible students who are interested in learning about career opportunities in loyal and guaranteed relationships. Students learn about sponsored and / or loyal careers through paid professional internships with US companies.

Application Criteria for The Surety And Fidelity Foundation Scholarships in USA

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Underrepresented student* who has completed at least their sophomore year, including at least six semester hours (or equivalent) in your major field
  • Ideally, a declared business, finance, economics, accounting or insurance/risk management major
  • Minimum overall GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Enrollment in an accredited institution as a full-time undergraduate student (12 semester hours or equivalent) and commitment to participating in a six-week (minimum) paid internship with a company in the surety/fidelity industry during the summer following notification of selection and prior to disbursement of scholarship funds
  • Successful completion of paid internship is required

*For the purposes of this program, The Surety Foundation defines underrepresented as those of African-American/Black, Native American/Alaskan Native, Asian/Pacific Islander or Hispanic ethnic origin, as well as women, disabled students, veterans and those who identify as members of the LGBTQ community. You also need to include all your transcripts, essay and listing honors, awards or extracurricular activities.

If you are a first-time applicant, please submit as a separate document an essay response (between 500-1,000 words) to the following question: When did you identify your major area of study, what experiences and influences led to your decision?

If you already have completed an intern assignment within the Surety and Fidelity Industry, please submit an essay response (between 500-1,000 words) to the following: Describe in detail your intern assignment(s) and its relationship to the surety/fidelity underwriting process. What have you learned from this experience that stimulates your interest in the surety/fidelity profession?
